The Valley of Zillarnia
Once a place of peace, harmony and abundance for generations…
Nestled between two mountain ranges, the fertile Valley of Zillarnia is steeped in heroic tales of old. Children roamed freely between its villages and diverse cultures flourished - weaving a vibrant tapestry of arts, weaponry, and innovations. At the heart of the Valley was the Light Walker Village - a refuge for Zillarnians and travelers in need. It was the home of the fearless Light Walker Clan whose unmatched prowess and connection to the Almighty made them the renowned protectors and defenders of the Realm. But the Village is now deserted - its heroes vanished in a veil of mystery. There are whispers that a remnant has survived, but none can be found. Legend says that when the days turn their darkest, the Light Walkers will return and reestablish the peace and plenty of the days of old - and this time, for the whole Realm.
LIGHT WALKER PRAYER/ PROTECTORS’ CREED
(OR WARRIOR’S CREED or KEEPER’S CREED)
But after Tenebris took up the Bident of Khaonai, the Almighty forged a weapon that could hold him at bay and would one day bring restoration and peace to the Realm - the Staff of the Almighty. He chose Sensei Murkai and his Light Walker clan to be the keepers of the Staff so long as they would walk with him and follow his way. The Almighty also bestowed upon the Light Walker Clan a gemstone. Like those given by the Almighty to the Undying Ones, this precious stone would reveal the truth of his nature and good will to all the people - for those who would seek to know. And so - Sensei Murkai made a vow that the Light Walkers would protect his creation and bring harmony to the realms. We have kept that vow…and the Staff and its sacred charge has been handed down from generation to generation. It has been said, when the days reach their darkest, the Almighty will choose again a number of his faithful - and train them to wield his very power. Their path will be through fire, and their burden crushing.
The Portal to Realms
Unpredictable and dangerous, but irresistible…
The Portal to Realms has enticed a number of Baransu-born to seek adventure - or escape - in a different realm. And, though no one has seen it happen, many suspect that others from different realms have entered Baransu by the Portal. It is said the Portal moves periodically, but no one understands why or how - or indeed, if anyone can track its movements. The Dark Pirates have long sought a ruby rumored to control the Portal, and will stop at nothing to claim it.
Reckoning Island
Far to the nor’ east, past treacherous cold waters that turn icy without warning…
The waters surrounding Reckoning Island are only passable in the warmest part of the year, but it is then that they teem with ravenous sea monsters who’ve made the journey for the meaty pickings of the thaw. Some in the realm believe there is magic at play on the island as lights in the heavens shower down colorful streaks over it at the darkest time of the year.
Fukushu Bay and Town
A wild place with a law of its own…
Home to outcasts, runaways and pirates of all kinds - Fukushu Town isn’t for the faint of heart. The Bay is wide with temperate waters, but jagged rocks on all but one side have taken more than a few ships in a storm. Yet once docked, Fukushu Town is a welcome relief to fishermen and pirates alike.
Lake Shamakai
A sacred Lake with a secret…
Lake Shamakai is the oldest and purest source of freshwater on Baransu and is the domain of the Undying Lacus People. Waters from the Lake flow through the Valley and irrigate the Forbidden Forest. It is said that the Lacus People guard a secret at the bottom of the Lake - but none other than the Lacus dare to brave the depths of the Lake as the Shamakai Eel Dragon hunts the waters for Baransu-born.
The Canyon of Despair
Beautiful and lush, the Canyon of Despair looks more like a valley of delight.
In the heart of the Forbidden Forest, the Canyon is a seeming haven from the dangers of the Forest. One soon discovers that the Canyon is the nesting ground of dragons who don’t take kindly to visitors.
The Forbidden Forest
This forest is like no other…
The Forbidden Forest is a magical forest that acts as a single organism. The trees speak to one another and shift their formations in response to any humans that try to enter. The animals have their own common language and are wary of humans. Beautiful vegetation can become deadly if the forest feels threatened. Legend says that the first seed of the garden was planted by the Almighty himself from the Upper Realm and from it sprung the first Baransu Elm - from which every other elm in Baransu was seeded.
The Dragon Islands
The Dragons’ tale is as old as the Light Walkers.
Known for their mystical forge, the dragons are the smiths of all weapons of power in Baransu. They, too, have chosen their own paths and allegiances. Some live in the forests while the Sea Dragons make their home in the southern isles where volcanoes carve out lava tubes that power their forges.
The Montes Giants
Wisdom corrupted by pride
One of the original three groups of Undying Ones created in the Upper Realm, the Montes People were given the Almighty’s gift of wisdom. But the Montes became prideful of their wisdom - their egos swelling. Because of this, the Almighty sent the Montes to the Baransu Realm where they began to transform into formidable rock formations and slowly became part of the mountains themselves. Feared in ages past, the Montes Rock Giants have become a distant legend to the people of Baransu. Only a few in great need of wisdom have trekked the Upper Mountains to seek their counsel with trembling.

Seafaring folk avoid the Bay if they can help it…
Gigantic water snakes, ship-sized squid, and a beast so haunting and deadly it’s only spoken of as “the Shadow” - these are some of the terror in the Bay of Monsters. It is said, when the Shadow comes over a ship and blots out the sun, it’s already too late - the ship will never be seen again. The Pirates of Fukushu have dared to brave the Bay when a prize seems worth the risk, but the gamble is great and the voyage has driven even the fiercest pirate mad.

He entrusted them as guardians of the portal to the Shadow Realm - but no Baransu-born knows where the portal lies.
